Light BBQ Chicken Pizza! Yummy!

One of my favorite foods is Pizza!  Lately I have been avoiding it because I am trying to drop a few pounds before the Holidays.  So when I got a craving for chicken pizza I decide to make one.
  1. 1 whole wheat tortilla
  2. 1 serving of BBQ sauce
  3. 1 serving of pre-cooked chicken breast
  4. 1 serving of shredded Gouda cheese
Evenly spread BBQ sauce on the tortilla.  Break up the pre-cooked chicken into small pieces and spread onto tortilla.  Sprinkle on the cheese.  Bake at 350 for 7 to 10 minutes.  Easy and yummy!  Approximately 400 calories per pizza.

How to layer without adding bulk!

As the weather turns cooler, it is time to bring out the sweaters and boots.  However wearing sweaters can add bulk and with all the holiday eating I don’t need any more bulk.   To avoid the bulk, I layer with thin sweaters and cardigans.  On really cold days this doesn’t keep me warm.  I don’t like wearing a coat unless I am going to be outside for an extended length of time.  So my solution is undergarments.  My favorite is cuddle duds.   They keep you warm when you are outdoors but don’t burn you up when you are inside.  At one time you could only buy these at the department stores but now Walmart carries them.  They are called Climate Right by Cuddle Duds.   The ones from Walmart are just as nice and come in several different colors.  Recently I purchased some leopard print pants that are really cool.

How I Thrift Shop!

I use the selection, inspection and elimination process.  Here are a few tips that I use for thrift shopping:

1. Grab a shopping cart if the store has them available

2. Shop for name brands not store brands.  Often you can purchase store brands cheaper on clearance than you can at the thrift store.

3. Go thru everything in your size range. Put everything that like/love in your cart.

4. After you have made your selections the next step is inspection. Find a well-lit space to inspect every piece closely.

5. Eliminate all pieces that have holes, tears, stains, looks worn or you decide that just you don’t love.  Love is the difference between wearing and taking up space in your closet.

6. If the store has a fitting room, try on your final selections.  Eliminate everything that does not fit well.  It's used and you don’t want to spend good money on tailoring.   (An exception to this rule is a great piece from a high end brand.)

7. I also set a budget because I can overspend even at a thrift store and buy things I don’t need.

8. Another good rule is to make a list of holes in your closet.  Holes are basic wardrobe items that you are missing.  (Examples:  black skirt, black trousers, jeans, etc.)
Hope you find these tips handy!  Have fun thrift shopping!

Dressing for Business

Love sporting the Business look sometimes.  One of my favorite name brands is Kasper.  They have a variety of affordable suits that look nice and will not break the bank.  The Kasper outlet store is a great place to shop.  You can also find these suits at most department stores.  Kasper also has separates which you can mix or match.

Thrift Stores

I went shopping over the weekend and spent two hours at my favorite thrift stores.  One of the stores I frequent has a brown bag special.  All you can stuff in the bag for $5.  This weekend everything was half off including the brown bag.  $2.50, Wow you can't beat that for a bargain.  I got several new-to-me shirts and a jacket.  Here are two of my favorites:

Later I will post outfits with my finds.

Vintage Jewelry

One of my favorite things is vintage jewelry.  I am always looking for unique pieces to add to my collection.  Some of my favorite jewelry came from estate sales.  Vintage jewelry is a great way to add accessories to your wardrobe without breaking the bank

Here are a few pieces that I have collected.   I knitted the scarf.

I also have some antique pieces that I don't wear but still love...

What I wore to receive an award!

Receiving an award at work! It is always nice to get an award but it requires dressing professional.  I chose a dark wine skirt with a cream jacket on a tan shirt.  I had never worn this combo before but thinks it fits the bill nicely.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be freezing!  So I need layers.

Love Shoes!

My Husband hung some shelves for my shoes!

Just a few of my shoes.
It has been awhile since I started this blog and then quit.  It started when I had extra time to play with a blog and then I was promoted at work.  Since then I have been very busy.  Hopefully I can post more now that I am settled in my new job.
