1. Grab a shopping cart if the store has them available
2. Shop for name brands not store brands. Often you can purchase store brands cheaper on clearance than you can at the thrift store.
3. Go thru everything in your size range. Put everything that like/love in your cart.
4. After you have made your selections the next step is inspection. Find a well-lit space to inspect every piece closely.
5. Eliminate all pieces that have holes, tears, stains, looks worn or you decide that just you don’t love. Love is the difference between wearing and taking up space in your closet.
6. If the store has a fitting room, try on your final selections. Eliminate everything that does not fit well. It's used and you don’t want to spend good money on tailoring. (An exception to this rule is a great piece from a high end brand.)
7. I also set a budget because I can overspend even at a thrift store and buy things I don’t need.
8. Another good rule is to make a list of holes in your closet. Holes are basic wardrobe items that you are missing. (Examples: black skirt, black trousers, jeans, etc.)
